Beware, the gathering darkness…

For the last ten years Kaaliz has been imprisoned in a Top Secret government facility, buried deep in the English Pennines. His jailers have been conducting experiments on the vampire, testing his pain and regenerative abilities to their limits, looking for weaknesses to help humankind fight the vampire scourge.

Now, Kaaliz has a chance to escape. A chance not only to gain his freedom, but also to take bloody revenge on those who tortured him, and those who betrayed him. Kaaliz is coming home.

Xavier and Claire have been living a happy, ordinary life with their son. They thought the dark times were behind them. They are about to learn that the nightmare is far from over, and their son will be crucial in the days that lie ahead. The vampires will come for him.

The North Coast is about to be devastated once again as the vampires and humans make it their battleground. A small, disparate group will stand against the vampire threat, but this time there may be no stopping them.

When dawn fades, evil gathers its legions.

A Twilight in my eye

When I (finally) finished Vampire Dawn, my first novel, I had mixed feelings. One the one hand, I was ecstatic that not only had I actually managed to complete a novel, but I also thought it was pretty good. The downside was I felt I had used every idea I had concerning vampires. That wasn't so bad, though, I felt I had 'done' the vampire novel and had plenty of other areas to pursue. So, while I searched for a publisher I started writing this novel about ' the monsters of high school' called Final Year. It was a terrible title and luckily I came up with Mind's Eye somewhere along  the way and renamed it. Then, as so often happens, it's when you stop thinking about something that a doozy of an idea comes out of nowhere.

I had an idea for a sequel to Vampire Dawn! Though I had found a publisher by this stage, I was still at the proof-reading stage, so with a few very minor tweaks to the ending, I set myself up for the sequel. Once I had this idea, other ideas just seemed to swarm on it like ants on a picnic. I could use characters from Vampire Dawn who seemed unimportant, I would give them new relevance in Vampire Twilight and everyone would think I had planned a sequel from the beginning -- great idea!! Of course, as is quite common with me, the first thing that I really had [and loved!] was the ending, but I also knew if I ended it where I wanted to it would leave a lot of stuff unresolved. So, what to do? I know, make the vampire books a trilogy!! At the time of writing this I haven't written one word of the final part, Vampire Equinox, though surprise! surprise! I do know how it ends. I also have the bones of some ideas that will hopefully become a full skeleton when I start writing.

Something I began in Mind's Eye and have now continued in Vampire Twilight [and the forthcoming Freak] is to mention characters from different books. Though these characters aren't pivotal to the story, I love doing it!! I feel it gives a real sense of community to the fictional world I have created. And it makes sense: since all my books are set around the same areas, it seems logical that some of the same people are going to bump into one another from time to time, or at least know each other. Let's see who spots the most crossovers. Email me if you like. I'll try to name a character in Vampire Equinox after you if you get them all [depending on how many people enter]. Anyway, enough from me, I hope you enjoy the book [let me know] and I'll get started on Vampire Equinox asap.
